A citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan who has reached the age of 18 and has legal capacity may voluntarily renounce the citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the prescribed manner.

An application for admission, restoration or renunciation of citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan is submitted by the applicant personally to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the internal affairs body at the place of permanent residence in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as by a person residing abroad, to a consular office.

If the applicant's husband (wife), parents, as well as his dependents, who are citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, permanently reside in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the applicant must notarize that these persons have no property claims against the applicant, must submit approved applications.

In the presence of appropriate circumstances, instead of the consent of the parents, spouse, the following documents are requested from the applicant or the competent authority:

• a death certificate, if the specified persons have died;
• a court decision that has entered into legal force on the deprivation of these persons of parental rights, recognizing them as incapacitated or limitation of the lageal capacity or missing, or declaring the citizen dead;
• documents confirming that a person is the only parent.

Within 3 working days, the responsible person who received the application will check the completeness and correctness of the attached documents and sign an application indicating his position.
